Securitisation and Civic Society in Africa

Programn overview
Understanding the program
Our Securitization and Civic Society initiative addresses the delicate balance between security imperatives and civic freedoms across Africa. We recognize that counterterrorism measures, while necessary, can inadvertently restrict civic spaces when implemented without proper safeguards and inclusive dialogue.
Through collaborative frameworks and evidence-based approaches, we unite diverse stakeholders to develop balanced policies that protect against terrorism financing while preserving the vital role of civil society. Our mission-driven approach emphasizes proportionate regulations, inclusive policy processes, and capacity strengthening to ensure sustainable security that upholds fundamental freedoms.
